BBC Radio Scotland – City Break with Tots
This time on Radio Scotland Fiona Stalker and I chatted about embarking on a City Break with cherubs – it’s not like the old days when you got a tiny, trendy apartment, drank in the latest bars and slept in. Things have changed. I overdid things a bit when we were in Turin so I learnt my lesson and tried to have a more chilled time when we hit Glasgow. Kelvingrove Museum
Sites we discussed include the Science Centre on the river, the Kelvingrove Museum and park, the People’s Palace and Winter Gardens on Glasgow Green (and the epic playpark) and the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride.
We ate in Fanelli’s in Merchant Square and Bill’s on West Nile Street and stayed in the Travelodge on Queen Street.

My youngest is 15 months so 8 months old doesn’t seem that long ago to me 🙂 The Science Centre did have a dedicated soft play area for babies so that was a bonus. My baby also loved the planetarium as he was transfixed.
The Kelvingrove Museum is interesting for all, esp the animals, but in the park adjacent is a great playground for young children/babies too so you could combine it all.
The Wonder World Adventure Centre is meant to be a massive soft play but I’ve never been myself. Have a great time.

I agree that it’s much easier and more fun for parents and children when you chill out a bit more when travelling with kids. Great to hear you enjoyed Glasgow – it’s a gorgeous city. #citytripping

We were ridiculously lucky with the weather too, it’s been Costa del Glasgow for weeks here. Sunshine is always a plus.

It’s one of the biggest changes I’ve found, I think, that you have to slow down – there really aren’t that many things you absolutely can’t do with kids (some easier than others at different ages, admittedly) but when they’re little, you can’t pack too much in otherwise that’s a recipe for meltdown. Glasgow is such a fun city isn’t it. I visited some friends living there back in my single days and we had a blast so it is great to know there are plenty of things to do with kids there too. I’m looking forward to a visit soon #citytripping

Great segment on BBC radio! You definitely can’t cram too much in on city breaks with children and eating out with children can be a bit more of a challenge but, I agree, somewhere with a bit of space is great. Thanks for linking to #citytripping
